How You Can Help

We are actively seeking volunteers with the shared goal of aiding helpless animals in need. There are many opportunities to volunteer, including helping at spay/neuter clinics; fostering; special events and fundraising participation; labor for building cat shelters; transporting cats to and from events and veterinary appointments; and much more!

  • A Fairfield County Location
We are actively seeking locations in which to hold spay/neuter clinics. Perfect locations could include:
    - An already operational veterinary facility willing to donate their space for our Sunday spay clinics
    - A vacant building, storefront, house, office or warehouse, to be donated or leased for a nominal fee (consult your tax advisor about possible advantages!)

Please contact us for host site information

Surgical Tables, Instruments, Equipment & Supplies
Our wish list for the necessary surgical equipment and supplies is vast:
    - Autoclave and instruments for spay packs
    - Spay boards, surgical tables, grooming tables, baby scales, IV poles
    - Portable lights, heaters, heating pads
    - Topical dressings, flea spray, etc.

We would deeply appreciate donations of used but functional equipment, and in-kind donations from surgical suppliers, pharmacies, etc.

Please contact us for a list of specific supplies and items needed

    Veterinarians at spay clinic

    Volunteer Veterinarians
It is our goal to spay and neuter as many feral cats as possible at our clinics. Additionally, we support low-income cat caregivers (meeting stringent guidelines as determined by national poverty-level standards) with spay/neuter. These are the cats that will never be treated by a veterinarian due to their feral nature or the financial burdens of their caregivers.

Veterinarians are asked to volunteer for approximately four hours at a spay clinic. You can volunteer for as many or as few clinics as you are comfortable with, but the satisfaction of knowing how many cats you have helped and the impact you have made often will be the inspiration to keep volunteering time and again.

Vet Techs, Healthcare Professionals and Students
Many of the tasks at the spay/neuter clinics are performed by vet techs, interested parties from the healthcare field, and students. In addition to presenting a dynamic learning opportunity, skills outside of daily routines can be honed and shared, all to the benefit of the cats at the clinic.

    General Volunteers
Our vet techs are more than happy to assist and train lay-people for specific duties depending upon skill sets and a desire to learn. There are also many tasks which do not require hands-on work with the animals, but are much needed and very much appreciated! If you can help in any of these areas, please contact us for more information.

    Transport
We occasionally need help transporting cats to and from clinics, adoption events and or collecting donated items such as food or equipment.

    Foster
We need volunteers to foster cats for short-term stays. This can include moms with nursing kittens or cats and kittens awaiting adoption.

    Handyman
Handymen (and women) - bring your hammers! We need help with all sorts of projects, from building winter shelters to drop traps to feeding stations to repairs of existing equipment.

    Trappers
Are you available to help trap cats from feral colonies? It's a job that requires patience, diligence and creativity ... as well as a lot of sitting around!

    Recovery
    Image: Cat in trap
After a spay or neuter, the cat needs a little time and TLC before being released back to their colony. Depending on the procedure, the feral could need up to several days of rest and monitoring in a spare room.

    Fundraising
Charming? Creative? Motivated? We need your talents! Help us raise funds - big or small - for the welfare of our feral friends.

    Call responders
We want to help everyone, but occasionally we get inundated with requests. Do you have some extra time to help us return calls with basic information?

Do you have other skills to offer?
Let us know your interests! Love photography and want to offer your services? Interested in being a substitute colonly feeder? Want to organize a local cat food drive? Please contact us.
